Book Art

In the same way that scientists write up the results of their experiments, Rapoport used the book format to document and analyze her interactive installations, experimental drawings, and Web Art pieces.

This allowed her to show work in exhibitions specifically focused on artist’s books, a portable format that allowed viewers to explore her dense, language-based work in depth. The intimate nature of Sonya’s chosen subject matter–looking into personal choices, her own domestic life, and the social construction of gender and ethnic identity–is enhanced by the approachability of the book format.
