Rapoport compiled the data she gathered in the original Shoe-Field: A Shoe-In performance in Berkeley (1982) in the artist book Why I Wear These Shoes (1983).
Each page consists of a reference number, a color image of one of the participant’s shoes, and a quote about why they wore their shoes. This piece is executed on a custom-printed, accordion-fold invoice statement booklet.
