The Animated Soul - Gateway to Your Ka artist’s book (1992) evolved from a Hypercard program that was used to facilitate viewer’s experiences during the Animated Soul “audience participation performances” (1990-92). Like the performance, it is structured by the Declarations of Innocence from the Egyptian Book of the Dead.

This work takes the form of an elaborately crafted “choose your own adventure” style book where viewers’ choices lead them to flip through the pages in a nonlinear manner, eventually arriving at their “words of power.”

Printed in 1992, it was featured in the National Endowment for the Arts Travelling Book Exhibition.
