Chinese Connections (1982) represents the 9th phase of Sonya Rapoport’s masterwork Objects on My Dresser and represents her fascination with linguistic systems and divination.
Packaged in a red box with Chinese characters, this small, laminated, accordion-folded booklet matches an image of objects from the series with a “Word and Picture” flash card set used to study Chinese characters. A printed Chinese proverb is tied to each page, forming what Rapoport called “the basis for further speculative associations.”
