Experimental Painting

Beginning in 1964, following her exhibition of abstract work at the Legion of Honor, and continuing through her development of the Pattern Painting style that she would pursue in the early 1970s, Rapoport carried out a series of painting experiments.

Intentionally breaking with her earlier aesthetic idiom, this was the first period that revealed Rapoport’s endless curiosity about new modes of inquiry and focused exploration of new mediums.
